It was on this day that Havant won the Hampshire Cup (The Dudley Kemp Shield) for the very first time, in the 5^th year of the competition.

The opposition were the cup holders BOURNEMOUTH (yes, Bournemouth were in Hampshire in those days!).

As Alister Marshall wrote in The News the following day, ‘In a tense, if unspectacular final, Havant squelched through the quagmire [at Stoneham Lane] to rock the defending champions with a ferocious frontal assault to clinch victory by a goal and two penalty goals to two penalty goals.’

The final score was Havant 12 Bournemouth 6. The half time score was 9-0.
