MARINERS 2001-2002 SEASON REVIEW

Well, as another season draws to a close, we can look back on arguably the most successful season the Mariners have played in their illustrious history

Master Mariner Derek Clark

There were only four losses this season; this can only be accredited to our fanatical fitness regime, and the addition of a specialist dietician and faith healer to our squad.

We have been fortunate this season that so many 'retired' players have dusted off their boots and turned out for us, giving us a good-sized squad to choose from.

The spirit of the squad has been 'awesome' along with our bar bill!

Now we come to the 'Kenilworth Tour', where we fell victim to 'le tactique Francais'. We were booked into a hotel with the busiest disco in town, with beer at £1.00 a pint. Needless to say, all the lads were not early to bed, and we all played like Danny La Rue, losing 20-10. Nevertheless, we look forward to the return fixture next year.

As Master Mariner this year, I would like to thank all the lads who have played this year and for their support, and other club members who have contributed to a most enjoyable season
